In terms of unity, is your group of employees a team or a family? Consider quite a few things on whether or not you are having a family atmosphere at your workplace, or if it's just a team.
Before quitting a current job or accepting a new job, make sure you're going to be with a family-style team, or if it's just going to be generic team (punch-in, punch-out).
It's a lot harder, in fact, to fire a family member if they were working in your organization, rather than just another person. So, if you treat your team like family, the chances of the person doing something outrageous goes down, and the chances of you hopping off the wire go down.
Every leader leads one way or another, when it comes to this situation. For best results, choose one. Either one is not necessarily bad, so make sure to choose the one that is most appropriate. Many times, in organizations that have quick turnover rates, don't normally adopt a family perspective for their team. But, in places where people last a long time at their job, it seems a family perspective is best.
This means to spend time with each person on your team in a way to help them get better at their job, to help them find new ways to do their job. If that's not enough, maybe going out golfing or having dinner with a group of people would be best to boost the morale of the family team.
So you decide...family team or punch-in & punch-out?
