Avoid these Common Social Media Mistakes

There are many ways to get the most out of social media, and there are many ways to ruin social media. Find these common social media mistakes and avoid them, so you can get the most out of social media.

  1. Stop spamming your followers!

For starters, don't spam your followers. Not on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, etc. What I mean is, don't post more than 3 updates at one time. Let your followers read and interact with each post. In fact, maybe wait for an hour before posting any subsequent updates.

Do anything but spam your followers. It's a surefire sign to scare away your followers, if you spam them!
  2. Posting updates from the wrong account: don't do it.

What this means is, if you have admin access to a page, or are signed in to a company account, make sure you post business stuff on the company page, and personal stuff on your personal page. Don't let the wires cross at any time. It can have a disastrous effect on the company's reputation, and maybe even on yours.
  3. Don't post updates with a hashtag you know nothing about.

Not sure if you've seen this happen, but it's rather tragic or an epic fail when someone posts an update with a hashtag that wasn't relevant.

Here's an example: "We're getting ready to expand our business operations, because we believe in expansion! #belieber".

I hope you know what's wrong with this example. That hashtag represents people who tweet or post updates about Justin Bieber. Bieber calls his followers and fans "Beliebers". If a company puts this on their update with nothing to do with Justin Bieber, be scared.

There are many more tips. You have any? Post below and be cool! :)
