What The Wolverine can do for your Business Strategy

The Wolverine movie releases in July 2013, starring Hugh Jackman. That's some good news. But, what can The Wolverine do for your business strategy? That's the question. Let's explore...

This $100 million movie is a potentially prized movie. Therefore, it's obvious people believe in the character of The Wolverine. The character of The Wolverine in X-Men comics is an absolute powerhouse, having keen animal senses, accelerated self-healing, and a willingness to not mess around.

(Spoiler alert: skip this paragraph only, if you don't want any part of the plot, which is talked about in the official trailer) However, in the new movie, we see that he was now granted mortality, severely lowering his chance of healing at an accelerated rate. This makes things a lot more interesting for The Wolverine, because his life is flipped upside down. He's always been anti-authority, so when The Wolverine finds out that his identity crisis with mortality is now a problem, he must make amends with life. In other words, his aggression returns.

Anyway, moving along. What if your business strategy was just purely awesome right at the start (kind of like Zynga was for awhile), but then all of the sudden, you find out that your business strategy is beginning to fail? Do you get aggressive, start fighting, and dealing blows - or do you just stay calm, focus, and avoid too much pressure?

This is what you have to decide. If you operate a good sized company, and find out it is failing fast...get aggressive. However, if your business is failing at a slight rate, it's time to gradually change some things up.

What type of aggression is needed, though, when that time comes? We're not talking complete product changes. Keep your core products. But, realize that you either have to step it up and redevelop those products, or create a new product that will be double-awesome than what your first one was.

But, some ask, how do you do this? It's simple. Reflect. That's it, just reflect. Know how your first product got to be good, and then come up with a strategy that would be double-good. Whether it's more fund-raising, more marketing, or longer development times on each individual aspect on the product to help perfect it.

There is no perfect product, and like Facebook when they were getting afraid of the social media market expansion, they had to step it up. So, what did they do? They got super aggressive. How? They bought Instagram, changed up their mobile development, and redesigned the Facebook News Feed, and profile (effectively changing it into "Timeline".

What is more realistic, aggressive or calm? Let your products speak for themselves. If they're crying wolf (no pun intended), then it's time to be like The Wolverine, and get aggressive. Self-heal your company. Use those keen animal senses (aka, your business talent) and explore the markets closely. Open up all boundaries, and get strong. Make a difference in your strategy before it's too late.
