Are you Communicating Effectively as a Leader? Lessons to Learn

Leaders communicate in a load of different ways, but in what ways can you empower yourself to communicate best? Here are some lessons...

1. Asking smart questions
  • Being curious is the key to learning new things. Leaders are always teachable and always apt to learn new things. So, be a good learner and be curious.
  • Engaging also with someone's heart and mind can be done by asking smart questions.

2. Bring vision to life

Almost anyone can handle writing a vision and/or mission statement for a business, but who can bring it to life? Always dedicate and pride yourself in making sure you're bringing that vision to life by the things you do, say, and accomplish.

3. Always create a climate to get stuff done

When you're working, empower yourself to always create the climate of "we're going to get some stuff done today".

Aaron Levie, CEO of Box.com, always has a philosophy of getting stuff done. To do as much as possible everyday, no matter what. Obviously, that philosophy has contributed to the success of the company. It should contribute to your success as a leader as well.

4. Be a good storyteller

People love hearing about stories of success/failure in leadership, plus it'll make your realize how well you've done in the past.

 5. Make people believe that they're working for a winner!

Can't be said much simpler. People want to believe you'll lead them to success. So do it! At least make people believe you know what you're doing.

Hope this helps you become a better communicator as a leader. Kudos! Comments open. :)
