Top Three Relationships you Should Have in Business

Seems like only yesterday when people were very communicative to each other, dealt with problems face-to-face (unless you're a wuss), and had a job worth fighting for. Now, these days, seems like those three things just listed don't exist much anymore. Not saying they don't exist anymore, it's just they're far limiting now.

You might be thinking you can do this business thing alone. Perhaps that's what's on your mind right now: "I can work alone and be totally independent" or "I'm my own boss, therefore I don't need anyone else around" or "My life is on a success spindle, so I control the relationships I have". Hope you get the gist.

The way a person interacts and relates with other people is highly crucial when it comes to networking, building trust, and setting up a solid foundation for your business. As the business grows (as well as responsibilities), your relationships with people - like customers, suppliers, advisers, financiers, and competitors begins to grow.

Let's take a closer look at the type of relationships you should have with these different people as a business owner/manager/etc:

1. Networked Relationships

What do I mean by this? I mean having a relationship with people you don't know necessarily, but are in the same industry as you. It's only good to connect to them and share your credentials, your business story, etc. so they can give recommendations to your company, brand, or special line of products.

They may not feel all that real, but connecting with them, like on LinkedIn or Xing or other business network,  can be beneficial - especially to prospective customers, reviewers, etc.

2. Temporary Relationships or Project Relationships

These are people you speak to, instead of the previous ones that you don't know. But, these are mostly people you work temporarily with, such as projects, conferences, events, etc.

It's your choice of whether or not to further it. Most people benefit from furthering one like this, but people don't have high expectations if you live far away.

3. Trusted Relationships

These are relationships that every person needs! They are your most personal, valuable, and long lasting relationships. Usually, these people you talk with about long-term plans, goals, etc.

Maybe they could be your mentors, or peers at work. These need to exist to create a good company culture that not only lasts for a long time in the future, but also creates awesome openings for better business plans and projects to take effect.

You don't need relationships with everyone that you meet, however, you do need some serious relationships (so people will take you seriously).

It's a good idea to be aware about all of the relationships that you encounter on the job, in your career, in your life, etc. It's one thing that will help shape your future better as an entrepreneur. (Comment below, if you please.)
